Financial Engineer / Assistant Director Financial Engineer – Structured Finance Job at Moody’s Investors Service – Frankfurt am Main

Build strong client relationships across a portfolio of customers investing in securitization (ABS/MBS and CLOs) and support clients by performing analysis of fixed-income portfolios.

Build customized cashflow and data solutions for clients and troubleshoot quantitative financial models in structured finance used by clients.

Act in a leading role with regards to running projects.

Train and mentor other Financial Engineers.

Work collaboratively with a global team of project managers, developers, and business analysts to design, build and implement new features and functions for analytic and data products.

Assist junior members of the team in developing detailed customer installation and/or system integration plans, supporting and training clients on software applications and the safe delivery/implementation of a suite of fixed income products .

Aid our clients in the implementation, customization and use of analytic solutions.

May require to interpret and analyse legal documents on complex financial structures used to model compliance reports, cash flow models and tests.

Graduate degree in engineering, finance, economics, or a related field preferred.

5 years’ experience in technical/finance field or client facing role required.

Experience and ability reading complex investment documents.

Strong quantitative skills and analytical problem solving ability required.

Excellent communication and organizational skills with the confidence to interact with top financial professionals.

Demonstrated initiative, enthusiasm and ability to learn quickly and excel as part of a dynamic team.

Attention to detail and ability to work and learn independently.

Experience writing code using Microsoft Excel VBA preferred.

Working knowledge of SQL is a plus.

Occasional travel is required.

Within the first 6 months, you will get to learn about the fundamentals of various structured finance asset classes such as Consumer ABS, CLOs, and CMBS. You will also learn about a range of products such as Web Portal, Data Feeds, APIs, Desktop Products, and various Excel/Python-based solutions that we manage and support for our customers. We strongly believe in learning by doing models, so, we will expect you to assist with various technical/analytical client support and product management tasks of increased complexity while acquiring a good understanding of our business. You will be taking part in the design and integration of new features, and assisting our clients in meeting their overall structured finance technology, model, and data needs.
