Job Description

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, the Programs Division of Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) is responsible for operational oversight and program development for the City’s recreation centers, playgrounds, athletic fields, and swimming pools. The Director of Youth Sports will be responsible for the equitable distribution of athletics resources and programming across the City, with a focus on underserved communities. This position will also serve as an ambassador building confidence, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and connecting a diverse population of youth through athletic programming and partnerships, including the Philadelphia Youth Sports Collaborative (PSYC).

Work-Life

Employees in the Programs Division of PPR work various schedules as dictated by the job assignment and operational need. A work week is a minimum of 37.5 hours and can include nights and weekends. Most of the work is done onsite, and remote work is assigned at the discretion of the divisional Deputy. Remote work may not be considered during the first 6 months of employment.

Provide leadership in the delivery of quality athletics programming

Monitor all aspects of the athletics program portfolio including, safety, staff performance, budget, quality assurance, end user participation metrics
