Communications Officer Job at Bridgend County Borough Council – Bridgend

37 hours per week

Temporary up until the end of December 2022

Bridgend County Borough Council is looking for an enthusiastic Communications Officer to play an active role in promoting, protecting and developing the reputation of the council across a wide range of key audiences.

You will already have experience of delivering internal and external communications within a large organisation and providing information about council services, developments, events and policies using a variety of different channels, including online.

You will be experienced in dealing with local, national and international media and responding to enquiries from journalists, often according to tight deadlines and in conjunction with senior officers and Cabinet members.

Experienced in producing media releases on specific issues written to high standards, you will also write and produce council publications, including the internal staff newsletter and materials in support of council initiatives.

With a strong knowledge of local government and the media, you will be highly organised, have effective IT skills and be able to work well under pressure. Excellent verbal and written skills and a can-do attitude are essential, as is the ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post.
